Lehigh Valley Phantoms Prospect Stock Report 10/30

The Phantoms went 0-2-0 this weekend, bringing them to 3-4-0 on the season as the team struggles to find chemistry early in the 2023-24 campaign.

Trending Up

Olle Lycksell

Lycksell scored the only Phantoms’ goal during the entire weekend. He now has six goals on the first seven games of the season, which is nearly half of the team’s measly 17 total goals. He’s been one of the few bright spots of the Phantoms to start the season and may soon reach the “undeniable” phase when the Flyers decide to shake up the main roster and make their first recall.

Parker Gahagen

If you didn’t know who Parker Gahagen was when the season started, he’s making a name for himself to start the season. He’s spent most of his career in the ECHL, with this season being his first sustained taste of AHL action. He’s got a 2.34 GAA and .911 SV% through three games. Now, he’s technically not a prospect with the Flyers, he’s on an AHL deal, but he’s the fifth man up in the organization at the moment and he’s playing very well in relief of Cal Petersen, who has come even worse than advertised.

Sideways Trending

Wade Allison

Allison was finally let out of the Ian Laperriere doghouse this weekend and registered his first point of the season, an assist, on Sunday. Lappy more or less said he wasn’t doing anything right and he had attitude problems upon his demotion from the main roster, but Allison seems to be back on his usual track.

Alexis Gendron

Gendron is still being used sparingly on the congested forward corps, but when he’s playing he’s displaying speed and a wicked shot. He and fellow undersized rookie forward Samu Tuomaala have added offensive flare to the Phantoms and look to be dangerous weapons for the future once they settle in at the professional level.

Trending Down

Ronnie Attard

Attard was passed up for a recall opportunity when Andrae was sent down. Given the lack of right-handed defensemen on the main roster and the weak powerplay, you’d think Attard would’ve been perfect for the role, but, nope. It could speak to how the organization views him moving forward, which is to say, not a major piece.

Tanner Laczynski

Laczynski missed both games over the weekend with an illness. Considering he scored seven points in the first five games, the rather anemic offense certainly missed his presence.

Cal Petersen

He’s still not a prospect, but Petersen allowed another four goals in his game on Saturday. He’s now allowed 15 goals in four starts, with an .884 save percentage. The Flyers shouldn’t have been expecting a “good” goalie when they acquired Petersen during the offseason, but they were probably hoping he’d at least provide a decent presence in the AHL, which is not what’s happening.
