Top 5: Flyers Things We’re Thankful For

The Thanksgiving season is upon us! It’s is a time to reflect on all the things we’re grateful for. When it comes to the Philadelphia Flyers, things are few and far between when it comes to being thankful these days, but there are still a few glimmers of positivity during the darkest stretch of franchise history.

Number 5: Double Center Ice Logos

Who needs tangible progress and success when you can pander! It’s a reminder of the good ol’ days, the only thing we’ve got left from a bygone era.

Number 4: Bobby Brink

It’s about time a Flyers’ prospect exceeds expectations, and it came in the form of 22-year-old rookie Bobby Brink. He’s got 10 points in 15 games and has played even better than those numbers suggest. It very much helps that he’s got the biggest, cheesiest smile when he scores, which is a contagious trait and makes it that much easier to root for him.

Number 3: Sean Couturier’s Health

It doesn’t get talked about enough that Sean Couturier missed 22 months of action after undergoing two separate back surgeries and somehow returned to play right before his 31st birthday. For most people, it’s the kind of thing that could make walking and daily life hard, but Couturier came back as an older player to play hockey. It’s the miracle of modern medicine.

Number 2: Matvei Michkov

Help us, Matvei Michkov, you’re our only hope. He’s the top prospect in the system after being taken seventh overall in 2023. Is he the franchise-altering force the organization needs? Will he ever make it to North America in the first place? Just gonna have to wait until 2026 to find out, but thought of a savior on the horizon is a glimmer of hope we all need.

Number 1: Chuck Fletcher’s Gone

The jury is still out on Danny Briere and how his time as general manager will turn out, but at least Chuck Fletcher went back to whatever circle of hell from which he came. Unfortunately he steered the train clean off the track and down a ravine before he left, but at least he can’t hurt us anymore.
