Worst to First: Vegas Golden Knights Jerseys

One of the newest teams in the NHL has made their mark on the world of hockey jerseys already. From outlandish color schemes to of one-of-a-kind design choices Vegas has lived up to the high expectations of showmanship the city they’re based in expects.

Worst: 2024 Winter Classic (2024)

Most Winter Classic jerseys are homages to the past, so when you’re less than a decade old, the Golden Knights had to get creative. They opted for an old west vibe, with muted colors compared to their flashy regular rotation. The jerseys themselves leave a bit to be desired, but to be fair, they work well with the pants and socks to make a full uniform than an individual jersey.

Number 5: Reverse Retro 1.0 (2021)

Again, there’s not much “retro” to draw from when there’s only four years of existence to draw from. Instead, the Golden Knights paid tribute to the Las Vegas Thunder, an IHL team who played in the late 1990s. They had the same “V” striping pattern on the tail and sleeves recolored using their quaternary color red as the base.

Number 4: Reverse Retro 2.0 (2022-2023)

Instead of drawing inspiration from the city’s hockey history for the second round of Reverse Retro jerseys, they Golden Knights opted to throw in easter eggs from Vegas itself. The red and gold celebrate the opening of the Fremont Street Experience, the “VEGAS” font is from the Excalibur hotel and the numbers are from the Stardust hotel. And, ya know, they glow in the dark, because it if it ain’t over-the-top Vegas doesn’t want it.

Number 3: Current Home (2017-Present)

Vegas was the first team to use a steel gray for their home jerseys. Opting to leave both the darker and lighter colors on the sleeves in favor of a gray base isn’t a choice most teams would make, but Vegas isn’t most teams.

Number 2: Current Away (2017-Present)

Vegas’ away jerseys may be among the cleanest in the league. The gold and grey look great as secondary colors with the slight bit of red making everything pop.

First: Current Alternate (2021-Present)

Some team have laid claim to “gold” as their color. Boston, Nashville, LA, etc. But Vegas actually made gold jerseys. They’re bright, they’re loud, they’re totally on brand for Vegas and among the most unique jerseys in the NHL today, or ever.
