Ron Hextall was brought back to the City of Brotherly Love 15 years after his playing career ended with one objective in mind- rebuild the Philadelphia Flyers. Through his five seasons at the helm of the Flyers organization, he oversaw some of the most interesting drafts in their history. Ever since his firing in 2018 … Continue reading Ron Hextall’s Draft History with the Flyers

Flyers Redraft: 2012
Coming from Minneapolis, Minnesota to our cross-state rivals in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we find ourselves with a weak top 3 with Edmonton, again, picking first and taking Nail Yakupov, then Ryan Murray going second to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Alex Galchenyuk going to Montréal third overall. The host team, Penguins, made a huge deal sending … Continue reading Flyers Redraft: 2012
Flyers Redraft: 2011
From Los Angeles, California to Minneapolis, Minnesota we see the Edmonton Oilers claim the 1st overall pick once again and select Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and then Gabriel Landeskog went to the Avalanche and Jonathan Huberdeau to Florida. This draft was a pretty good one as well. This was also when the news that the Atlanta Thrashers … Continue reading Flyers Redraft: 2011
Top 5: Most Likely Flyers Expansion Picks
The Seattle Kraken expansion draft is finally on the horizon and who ends up packing their bags is on the forefront of every fans' mind across the league. For the Flyers, they're set up pretty nicely in terms of being able to protect everyone they want to. Though, as the first stop in a critically … Continue reading Top 5: Most Likely Flyers Expansion Picks
Flyers Redraft: 2010
From Montréal, Québec to Los Angeles, California we see the beginning of the Oilers getting the 1st overall pick in 4 of the next 6 drafts. Taylor Hall was picked first by Edmonton, and Boston got to select Tyler Seguin 2nd overall thanks to the Phil Kessel trade with the Leafs. This draft holds the … Continue reading Flyers Redraft: 2010
Flyers Redrafts: 2009
From Ottawa, Ontario to Montréal, Québec, we see another 1-2 punch of an elite center and elite defenseman. John Tavares would go first to Long Island, and Tampa Bay would help their rebuild by selecting Victor Hedman second. The Flyers had a pretty weak draft to be quite frank. This is another draft with only … Continue reading Flyers Redrafts: 2009
Flyers Redraft: 2008
From Columbus, Ohio to Ottawa, Ontario the Senators actually get to host the draft they were told they would, and if they were upset about not hosting the draft of Sidney Crosby, well they would host the draft of defensemen. This draft was highlighted by 1st pick Steven Stamkos, but the draft produced some amazing … Continue reading Flyers Redraft: 2008
Flyers Redraft: 2007
From Vancouver, British Columbia to Columbus, Ohio the Flyers looked like they'd be awarded the first overall pick for the first time ever (I said awarded, we made a trade to select Mel Bridgman 1st overall in 1975). Unfortunately, the Blackhawks won the draft lottery and selected future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane first overall. … Continue reading Flyers Redraft: 2007
Flyers Redraft: 2006
From a hotel in Ottawa, Ontario to Vancouver, British Columbia we come to a very memorable draft for a couple reasons for Flyers fans. This will be talked about very soon. The Pens have continued their trend of picking 1 then 2. Erik Johnson and Jordan Staal were the top two picks, and is probably … Continue reading Flyers Redraft: 2006
Flyers Redraft: 2005
After the draft in Raleigh, North Carolina we get to a huge draft that totally didn't have a skewed draft lottery. May make an article about it and a better way to do a draft lottery if a season is ever cancelled for one reason or another, but this isn't all about the validity of … Continue reading Flyers Redraft: 2005
