Brotherly Puck Weekly Issue 6

SCORES & REVIEWS

1/5 vs Flames    Did you know Johnny Gaudreau is from South Jersey? The hometown kid scored a goal, but the Flyers were able to keep it close. They fell to the Flames 1:59 into overtime on a TJ Brodie goal to hand the Flyers their sixth straight loss.

1/7 vs Blues    This game went the way most fans predicted as Blues rookie Jordan Binnington made his first NHL start and the Blues shutout the Flyers 3-0.

1/8 at Capitals    The Flyers tied an NHL record for most goalies used in a season as Mike McKenna made his Flyers debut. The Caps scored three in the second period to build a lead the anemic Flyers offense couldn’t overcome. It was their eighth straight loss.

1/10 vs Stars    Carter Hart continues to steal the show as he stood on his head to secure a 2-1 victory over the stars, his first win since December 20.

1/12 at Devils    It was a another edition in the Battle of Nico vs Nolan, and the first battle of young stud goaltenders Blackwood vs Hart. It is pretty safe to say the Devils won this round as Blackwood made 32 saves and Hischier racked up a goal and two assists to beat the Flyers 3-2.

FLYERS NEWS AND NOTES

The Flyers traded Jordan Weal to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for ECHL defenseman Jacob Graves and a 2019 sixth round draft pick.

AROUND THE NHL

The Lightning traded defenseman Slater Koekkoek and a 2019 fifth round pick to the Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Jan Rutta and a 2019 seventh round pick.

STUDS & DUDS

Studs

Carter Hart– Even though his record isn’t pretty at 3-5-1, he has been the only reason the Flyers have been in any games at all. He is certainly proving he can handle the pressure at the NHL level, and behind a dumpster fire of a team no less.

Sean Couturier– Even though he is far off the mark to repeat his dazzling numbers from last season, things finally seem to have turned around as Couts has five points in his last three games.

Duds

Nolan Patrick– The disappointing season continues for Patrick as he has just 11 points so far this season, and none since December 20.

Travis Konecny– TK is having an under-the-radar season as he is just a another zombie in the horde known as the Philadelphia Flyers. Konecny has just three points in his last 12 games, and eight in his last 20.

BEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME OF THE WEEK

Filip Forsberg scored a nasty between-the-legs goal

SAMUEL MORIN TRACKER

Morin skated for 14 straight days, and 15 of the last 16. As he return date inches closer, the big man is  taking precaution to not rush himself back.

CARTER HART WINS UNTIL HE PASSES BRODEUR

689 wins

FUN FACT OF THE WEEK

Chris Therien played the most games from a Flyers defenseman in the history of the franchise. His 753 games as a Flyer is not only the best for a defenseman, it is good enough for fifth all-time.
