Let me preface this short piece by saying this: The Philadelphia Flyers are a hot mess. The 2020-2021 season has been less than ideal, and I cannot say I am confident in our current roster. I do not understand how a team that was so dominant last year (other than in the playoffs) can produce a product that is this poor. This team looks lost, and the worst part about it is their lack of identity. It would not be too much of a blow if this team was horrible, but played hard. The 2020-2021 Flyers do not even look like they want to be on the ice half the time. So, what is wrong with this team?
I do not think that firing AV or Chuck is the answer. The head coach and manager are not to blame for this team’s lack of success. I do think that the Flyers could do without the assistant coaches, but that alone will not solve the issues this team is having. As much as I hate to say it, I think it is time to move on from the big leaders of this club. While Giroux and Jake have been the top dogs of this team for many years, I think that their time is over. I am not saying that the veterans are busts, but maybe a change of pace in leadership for this club could do some good. Giroux, in my opinion, has been one of the best Flyers to ever play for the club. Even with saying that, I think that this team needs some sort of change. Maybe getting rid of the veterans will help, maybe it will not, but the Flyers need to do something.
I would love to hear from you, the fans, thoughts on the season. Why is this team underperforming so? What are some changes this Flyers team can make to turn their team around.
