Deal or No Deal: Would You Make This Trade? Travis Konecny Trade Deadline Version

The 2024 NHL trade deadline is less than a month away, and the Philadelphia Flyers have somehow walked a perfect line between being buyers and sellers. It has led to uncertainties as to who the team will and won’t look to deal on deadline day. But the fans, however, have all kinds of theories as to who should stay and who should go, none more controversial than Travis Konecny. So we once again went though and found our favorite Travis Konecny themed trades on CapFriendly’s Armchair GM tool for our readers to vote on!

You’re the GM of the Flyers and the proposals below come across your desk, do you make the trade?

finishing touches by Jets27

Chaz Lucious is a 20-year-old forward who was the 18th overall pick in 2021. He had 13 points in 17 AHL games this season. There are some injury concerns there, he missed most of the 2022-23 season with a shoulder injury, and is done for the 2023-24 season after knee surgery.

Cole Perfetti is a 22-year-old forward who was the 10th overall pick in 2020. He’s got 30 points in 50 games this season and 67 points in 119 career NHL games.

Logan Stanley is a 25-year-old, 6’7 left-handed defenseman and pending RFA at season’s end.

The Jets are on pace to make the postseason in the Western Conference, and they’re going to need some added firepower of they stand a chance of making a legitimate run. Three former first round picks, two of which still have upside, and a second round pick for Konecny.

Jonathan Lekkerimaki was the 15th overall pick in the 2022 draft. He’s 19 and hasn’t made the jump to North America yet.

Aatu Räty was a second round pick in 2021. The Canucks acquired him as part of the Bo Horvat trade, but he’s spent much of his North American career in the AHL where he’s posted 27 points in 44 games this season.

Ilya Mikheyev is a 29-year-old depth forward. He has 124 points in 241 NHL games between the Leafs and Canucks.

The Canucks are looking to go all-in on a Cup run this season, so it makes sense they’d want to add another higher end forward to their mix. A top forward prospect and a first round pick in next year’s draft highlight this package.

Xavier Bourgault is a 21-year-old forward who was drafted 23rd overall in 2021. He has 16 points in 40 AHL games this season and hasn’t made his NHL debut as of this writing.

Matvei Petrov is a 20-year-old forward drafted in the sixth round of 2021. He currently has eight points in 31 AHL contests during his rookie season.

Kulak is a depth defenseman who has two years left on his contract at a $2.75 million cap hit, and Janmark is a depth forward who is a UFA at the end of the season.

The Oilers were linked to TK last summer, but Edmonton seemingly lacked the assets to get it done, so does this deal move the needle for the Flyers considering pretty much just the draft picks are of interest?

Wyatt Johnson was the 23rd overall pick in 2021, and has 74 points in 134 NHL games with the Stars.

This one’s simple, the Stars want a Cup and give up one of the better young forwards in the league plus an additional 2024 first round pick for a top forward like Konecny to win now.

Jonatan Berggren is a forward and was the 33rd overall pick of the 2018 draft. He has bounced between the AHL and NHL the last few seasons and has registered 36 points in 33 AHL games this year.

Elmer Soderblom is a 6’8, 250lb 22-year-old forward who is in his second season in North America.

Robby Fabbri is a 28-year-old depth forward.

The Red Wings could very well make the playoffs this season, and if they fall short, they’re clearly on the right path and could use an established vet to help carry their young team forward.

Drake Batherson is a 25-year-old forward who has 39 points in 48 games this season with 198 points in 275 career NHL games.

Mads Søgaard is a 23-year-old goalie who is rocking a .924 save percentage and 2.34 goals against average in 19 AHL games this season, but has just a .881 SV% and a 3.52 GAA in 25 career NHL games.

The Flyers get a similar (albeit slightly lesser) player to TK, a closer to NHL-ready goalie prospect as well as a first round pick in exchange for Konecny.
