May has arrived and it means that the NHL playoffs are well underway, and as more and more teams get eliminated, fans turn their attention towards offseason moves. It’s a spicy time of year for CapFriendly’s ArmChair GM tool, so we went through and picked some of out favorite Flyers themed trades!
You’re the GM of the Philadelphia Flyers and the proposals below come across your desk, do you make the trade?
Huge Rumor by LondonNight911

There was some variation of TK & Risto for Zegras in multiple people’s scenarios, which means somebody somewhere must’ve suggested it and folks using the Armchair GM tool incorporated it.
The Flyers ship Konecny, who’s due a contract in 2025, and the remaining three years and $15.3 million of Rasmus Ristolainen to Anaheim for 23-year-old Trevor Zegras.
The Flyers clear a ton of money off the books and add a top young center in the process.

Easton Cowan was the 28th overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft. He signed his entry-level contract with the Leafs last August. He posted 96 points in 54 games with the London Knights, alongside two Flyers’ prospects Oliver Bonk and Denver Barkey.
This trade seems rather lacking from the Flyers’ side, but adding the third man of the successful London Knights trio could be a huge beneficial move in the long term for the rebuilding Flyers if Cowan, Bonk and Barkey all break in together.

Surprise new 1rst Line PP Fixed by PhilEMyers

Sean Couturier switching agents has sparked quite a few rumors that he could be on his way out of Philly. While that is highly unlikely for various reasons, his contract, which has six years remaining at a $7.7 million cap hit, is a big one.
In order to move that contract, the Flyers would have to take on a big contract in return, so step right up Johnny Gaudreau, who has five years left at a $9.7 million cap hit. The soon-to-be 31-year-old scored 101 points over the last two seasons with the Blue Jackets, more than any Flyer not named Travis Konecny in the same span.
Gaudreau has one year less on his contract at a higher cap hit, but also seemingly has a higher ceiling than Couturier does at the respective points in their careers.

The Flyers are going to have to get creative when it comes to seeking out center help, and turning towards Washington, who are struggling to remain competitive in Alex Ovechkin’s last years, could be a cheeky way of doing so.
Dylan Strome is 27 years old and has developed into a well-rounded top six center with the Capitals over the last two seasons. He posted 27 goals and 67 points in 82 games in 2023-24. He’s got four years remaining on his contract at a $5 million cap hit.

Michkov Early Kills Rebuild by GMDannyB

Mitch Marner is 27 years old with 639 points in 576 career games, including 85 of them in 69 contests during 2023-24. He’s got one year left on his contract with a $10.9 million cap hit before hitting UFA in 2025.
After another early playoff elimination, the Leafs could look for a major shakeup. The Flyers get a star forward and the Leafs get two main roster pieces as well as three draft picks to use as ammo in other trades.
