The Minnesota Wild entered the league in 2000 alongside the Columbus Blue Jackets and unlike the latter, the Flyers and Wild haven’t been the most friendly organizations. Other than passing along general manager Chuck Fletcher to the Flyers, there hasn’t been much movement between the two clubs, as they’ve partnered on just three small deals over the last 20-plus years.
12/17/03 – 2004 fifth round pick (Chris Zarb) for Eric Chouinard
Chris Zarb was a right-shot defenseman whom the Flyers drafted 144th overall in 2004. He spent most of his time with the organization tucked away in the ECHL, managing to sneak into four AHL contests, never cracking the NHL lineup.
Forward Eric Chouinard was drafted by the Canadiens 16th overall in 1998. He was acquired by the Flyers in January of 2003 for a second round pick. He suited up for 45 games for the Flyers over parts of two seasons before this trade. Chouinard finished the 2003-04 season with the Wild, playing in 31 games before re-signing with the Flyers in 2005 after a year in Austria thanks to the lockout.
6/27/11 – 2013 third round pick (Jake Guentzel)(traded to DAL) for Darroll Powe
Darroll Powe spent five seasons with the Flyers organization mainly serving as a penalty-killing depth forward. He spent the 2011-12 season with the Wild and eight games of the 2012-13 season before being traded to the New York Rangers for Mike Rupp in 2013.
The Flyers would later package the 2013 third with a 2012 second to acquire defenseman Nick Grossmann from the Dallas Stars. The Stars would also trade this pick, this time to Pittsburgh in a deal sending longtime forward Brenden Morrow and this pick to the Penguins in exchange for Joe Morrow and a fifth round pick in 2013. The Penguins with select forward Jake Guentzel 77th overall in 2013.
6/28/24 – 2024 first round pick (Jett Luchanko) and 2025 third round pick (traded to NSH) for 2024 first round pick (Zeev Buium)
11 years after the last trade between the two teams, they met up on draft day in 2024. The Flyers traded back from 12th overall to 13th overall. The Wild would take defenseman Zeev Buium while the Flyers selected forward Jett Luchanko.
The Wild threw in a third round pick in 2025 to make the deal happen, but the Flyers would trade it to Nashville the following day to move into the 2024 second round and take defenseman Spencer Gill.
