  • (Oct. 16) The Brandon Wheat Kings Carson Bjarnason got the start as they hosted the visiting Spokane Chiefs to start their five game homestand.  In the first period it was Brandon that did all the goal scoring as Matteo Michels (his 2nd at 6:43), Joby Baumuller (his 1st at 11:01), and Marcus Nguyen (his 5th at 14:46) all scored at even strength to give the Wheat Kings a 3-0 lead.  In the second period, the Chiefs struck quickly and often as they tied the game 3-3 just over 5 minutes into the frame.  Matteo Michels would score his second of the game with exactly a minute remaining to retake the lead for the Wheat Kings 6-3.  In the third period, Nolan Flamand scored a powerplay goal (his 4th) only 27 seconds in to give the Wheat Kings some insurance and a 5-3 advantage.  Later in the period, Nguyen would score a shorthanded goal versus three defenders with a weak wrist shot that eluded Spokane goaltender Dawson Cowan at 13:51 to ensure the home victory for Brandon as they defeated Spokane 6-3.  Bjarnason got the win and was solid other than a short stretch in the second period as he stopped 22 of 25 shots.
  • (Oct. 18) The homestand continued for the Brandon Wheat Kings as they welcomed the Seattle Thunderbirds to Westoba Place with Carson Bjarnason in goal.  In the first period, Seattle thought they had opened the scoring but it was immediately waved off as the net was off its pegs and Bjarnason was interfered with on the play.  Nolan Flamand scored a powerplay goal for his second straight game as he tipped in a point shot for his 5th of the season at 9:03 to give Brandon a 1-0 lead.  In the second period, the Wheat Kings would extend their lead as Caleb Hadland scored his 2nd of the season at 15:44 and Giorgos Pantelas notched his 1st at 17:57 to open up a 3-0 lead for the Wheat Kings.  In the third period, Marcus Nguyen stayed hot with his 7th of the season at 5:41 to make it 4-0.  The shutout bid ended at 9:46 as Seattle’s Braeden Cootes put one top corner through a screen off the rush, but the Brandon Wheat Kings would defeat the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1.  Bjarnason was sharp on the night as he stopped 37 of 38 shots in the victory.  Bjarnason was named the Second Star of the game.
  • (Oct. 25) Carson Bjarnason would get the start once again as the Brandon Wheat Kings hosted the Saskatoon Blades.  There was no scoring in the opening period but the Blades had the better frame as they outshot the Wheat Kings 14-8.  In the second period both sides alternated goals as the Blades found themselves up 3-2.  Jaxon Jacobson (his 2nd at 11:17) and Dylan Ronald (his 1st at 13:20) were the goal scorers for Brandon in the period.  In the third period, Jaxon Jacobson scored a phenomenal goal for his second of the night as he stripped Blades Captain Ben Saunderson and rifled a wrist shot home to tie the game 3-3 at 9:16.  Regulation would end with the game still tied, but in overtime it was the Saskatoon Blades who would come out on top 4-3 over the Brandon Wheat Kings as Ben Riche’s 9th of the season was the game-winner.  Bjarnason took the overtime loss and faced a total of 40 shots and made 36 saves.
  • (Oct. 26)  The Brandon Wheat Kings homestand continued with Carson Bjarnason backing up Ethan Eskit at they faced the visiting Calgary Hitmen.  After twenty minutes the Hitmen found themselves up 1-0 thanks to a powerplay goal from Ben Kindel.  In the second period, Nolan Flamand scored for the third consecutive game as his 6th of the season at 8:12 tied the game 1-1.  Kindel would score his second of the game just over a minute later to give Calgary the lead, but Joby Baumuller scored his 2nd of the season to tie things up 2-2.  In the third period, Ottawa Senators prospect Carter Yakemchuk scored a powerplay goal to retake the lead for the Hitmen; but Luke Shipley responded with his 2nd of the season with 55 seconds remaining to tie things up 3-3 and force overtime.  In the extra frame, Marcus Nguyen was the hero as his 8th of the season won the game for Brandon as the Wheat Kings triumphed 4-3 over the Calgary Hitmen.
  • (Nov. 2) The Brandon Wheat Kings hosted the Medicine Hat Tigers with Carson Bjarnason getting the start in goal.  In the opening period, Brandon outshot Medicine Hat by a 17-11 margin and scored the first goal as Caleb Hadland scored his 3rd of the season only 3:14 in to make it 1-0.  The Tigers turned it on in the second period by peppering 16 shots on Bjarnason, but the Wheat Kings netminder turned all 16 away to keep the scoreline at 1-0 after forty minutes.  In the third period, Brandon retook the shots advantage and held the Tigers to only 6 shots; but needed to wait for the empty net to get some insurance as Quinn Mantei scored his 1st at 18:15.  Dominik Petr would add another into the empty cage at 19:00 for his 2nd goal of the season and Bjarnason would turn away all 33 shots he faced as the Brandon Wheat Kings shutout the Medicine Hat Tigers 3-0.  Bjarnason stood tall in this game as he was named the First Star of the game for his efforts in the shutout in what was an excellent goaltenders duel.

  • (Oct. 17) Losers of two straight, the Portland Winterhawks looked to snap their losing skid as they hosted the Kamloops Blazers.  In the first period, the only scoring occurred only 1:47 in as Kamloops took a 1-0 lead and ended up outshooting Portland 14-13 in the frame.  Portland played a much better second period as they outshot the Blazers 16-3 but could not find the back of the net.  In the third period, Carter Sotheran picked up an assist on Kyle Chyzowski’s powerplay goal (his 7th at 0:46) and the Winterhawks added a second with the man advantage 1:02 later through Tyson Yaremko’s 6th of the season to take a 2-1 lead.  The lead did not last though as the Blazers would tie the game 2-2 with a powerplay goal of their own to force overtime.  In overtime, it was Kamloops that would come out on top as Tommy Lafreniere would give the Blazers a 3-2 overtime win over the Portland Winterhawks.  Sotheran finished the game with 1 assist, an even rating, and 5 SOG.

  • (Oct. 19) The Portland Winterhawks were back in action as they hosted the visiting Everett Silvertips.  Everett would do all the scoring in this game as they would score even strength goals in each of the first two periods to take a 2-0 lead despite being outshot 19-17.  In the third period, the Silvertips would add an empty-netter and Jesse Sanche would stop all 26 shots he faced as Everett shutout the Winterhawks 3-0.  Carter Sotheran finished the game with no points, a -1 rating, and no SOG.
  • (Oct. 20) Riding a four-game losing streak, the Portland Winterhawks hit the road as they visited the Tri-City Americans.  Despite the shots being even 7-7, it was the home team that took a 2-0 lead thanks to a powerplay goal and an even-strength goal in the opening frame.  In the second period, Tri-City extended their lead to 3-0 despite Portland having the advantage in overall shots.  In the third period, Portland began to climb their way back as Ryan Miller scored his 4th of the season at 1:46 to make it 3-1.  Then Kyle Chyzowski scored his 8th of the season on the powerplay at 4:12 to cut the deficit to 3-2.  Miller scored his second goal of the game at exactly the 10:00 mark on the powerplay to tie the game 3-3.  The game would need extra time to decide the winner, but in overtime the Winterhawks would not end their losing streak as Jake Sloan was the hero as Tri-City defeated Portland 4-3 in overtime.  Carter Sotheran finished the game with no points, a -1 rating, and 0 SOG,
  • (Oct. 26) Losers of 5-straight, the Portland Winterhawks looked to get back into the win column as they hosted the Edmonton Oil Kings.  It wasn’t the start that Portland was looking for as Edmonton got out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period with two even-strength goals.  Things didn’t get better in the middle frame either as the Oil Kings doubled their lead to 4-0.  After allowing another goal only 51 seconds into the third period, Portland finally broke the goose egg as David Hoy scored his 1st goal of the season at 3:21 to make it a 5-1 game.  Edmonton though would not be denied as they added another even-strength goal and a powerplay goal to pace themselves to a lopsided 7-1 win over the Portland Winterhawks to extend their losing streak to six.  Carter Sotheran ended the game with no points, an even rating, and 2 SOG.
  • (Oct. 27) The Portland Winterhawks once again looked to get out of their losing funk as they hosted the Everett Silvertips.  In the opening period, Portland took the 1-0 lead as Tyson Jugnauth scored his 4th of the season at 10:33 to lead 1-0.  The lead would only last 1:22 though as Everett would end up scoring at even-strength and shorthanded to end the period with a 2-1 lead.  In the second period, Kyle Chyzowski scored on the man-advantage for his 9th of the season only 51 seconds in to knot things up at 2-2.  Everett though would retake the lead at 13:37 and would add an insurance goal in the third period to had the Portland Winterhawks their 7th straight loss by a score of 4-2.  Carter Sotheran finished the game with no points, a -2 rating, and 1 SOG.
  • (Nov. 1) The Portland Winterhawks hosted the Spokane Chiefs looking to end their 7-game losing streak.  The first period saw no scoring although the Chiefs outshot the Winterhawks by a 13-5 margin.  In the second period, Spokane would strike first but Portland would get goals from Josh Zakreski (his 5th while shorthanded at 10:56) and Hudson Darby (his 3rd at 18:58) to take a 2-1 lead after forty minutes.  Unfortunately, Portland could not keep the lead as Spokane scored twice in the third period and added an empty-netter to hand the Winterhawks a 4-2 loss for their eighth straight defeat.  Carter Sotheran finished the game with no points, a -1 rating, and 5 SOG.
  • (Nov. 2) The Portland Winterhawks travelled to Washington State to take on their archrival the Seattle Thunderbirds.  Carter Sotheran opened the scoring with his 1st of the season by floating a harmless point shot through a maze of bodies only 20 seconds in to make it 1-0.  Kyle Chyzowski would add a shorthanded goal for his 10th of the season to give Portland some breathing room after twenty minutes with a 2-0 lead.  Both teams would find the back of the net in the second period with Portland’s Ryan Miller scoring his 6th of the season on the powerplay at 8:54 to make it a 3-1 advantage.  In the third period, Josh Zakreski would add a powerplay goal for his 6th of the season at 1:13 and Kyle McDonough’s even strength goal (his 2nd at 11:25) would overcome a late Seattle powerplay goal to break the losing streak as the Winterhawks defeated the Thunderbirds 5-2.  Sotheran finished the game with 1 goal, a +1 rating, 7 SOG, and 4 PIMs.

Maxime Coursol set the tone by opening the scoring with his 5th (19:03 of the first period) and 6th (2:16 of the second period) to give Rimouski a 2-0 lead.  The Foreurs would get to within one early in the third period, but a pair of empty net goals by Mathieu Cataford (his 7th) and Coursol to complete the hat-trick would ensure that the winning ways would continue for the Oceanic as they defeated Val-d’Or 4-1.  Spencer Gill finished the game with no points, an even rating, 2 SOG, and 5 PIMs for a high-sticking major.
  • (Oct. 24) The Rimouski Oceanic travelled to Rouyn-Noranda to play a back-to-back set against the Huskies with Spencer Gill not dressing in the game.  In the opening period, Maxime Coursol stayed hot as he scored his fourth goal in the last two games (his 8th at 2:35) but the Huskies would respond to tie the game 1-1.  In the second period, the Huskies would gain the 2-1 advantage with Antonin Verrealt’s second goal of the game at 15:11.  Both sides would score powerplay goals including Rimouski’s Jacob Mathieu’s 7th at 16:33 and Rouyn-Noranda would have a 3-2 advantage after forty minutes.  The third period had the Oceanic really press to tie the game as they outshot Rouyn-Noranda 17-4, but the Huskies powerplay sealed the game with Cataford in the box by scoring three powerplay goals to snap the Oceanic’s winning streak at 7 with a 6-2 win.
  • (Oct. 25) Rimouski looked to avenge their loss to the Huskies as they played the second half of their road back-to-back against Rouyn-Noranda.  Spencer Gill returned to the lineup for this one and registered an assist immediately as Alexandre Blais scored his 5th of the season at 1:14 of the opening period.  Jacob Mathieu would double the lead to 2-0 with a powerplay goal for his 8th of the season at 18:49.  Rimouski would carry the 2-0 lead into the latter stages of the third period where Mathieu would tally his second goal of the night into an empty net as the Oceanic would gain revenge on the Huskies with a 3-0 victory.  William Lacelle stopped all 30 shots for the shutout and Spencer Gill finished the game with 1 assist, a +1 rating, 2 SOG, and 2 PIMs.
  • (Oct. 26) Playing their third game in three nights, the Rimouski Oceanic returned to Val-d’Or to take on the Foreurs.  The opening period saw Rimouski take advantage of their powerplay opportunities as Alexandre Blais (his 6th at 13:21) and Mathieu Cataford (his 8th at 18:08) paced the Oceanic to a 2-1 advantage after twenty minutes.  Val-d’Or would strike 27 seconds into the middle frame, but Rimouski would increase their advantage to 4-2 with goals by Olivier Theberge (his 4th) and Maxime Coursol (his 9th).  In the third period, the Foreurs would score twice to tie the game 3-3 and force extra time.  With overtime solving nothing, Val-d’Or would score twice in the shootout to take the 5-4 shootout win over the Rimouski Oceanic.  Spencer Gill finished the game with no points,a -2 rating, and 0 SOG.

  • (Oct. 27) After being sent back to the OHL after an impressive showing at Flyers training camp, Jett Luchanko made his season debut for the Guelph Storm as they hosted the Brampton Steelheads.  This game was a complete domination by the Steelheads.  Brampton scored five times in the opening period to take a 5-0 lead which included one powerplay goal and a shorthanded goal.  The second period wasn’t much better for the Storm as the Steelheads continued their offensive barrage to lead 9-0 after forty minutes.  Adam Zidlicky (3G and 2A for 5 PTS) and Luke Misa (2G and 2A for 4 PTS) led the way for Brampton in a dominant performance.  In the third period, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Porter Martone made it double digits but Guelph ruined the shutout for Jack Ivankovic as Dawson Morris scored his 1st of the season in a 10-1 pounding at the hands of the Brampton Steelheads.  Luchanko finished the game with 1 assist, a -3 rating, 0 SOG, and was 13 of 24 on faceoffs.
