Welcome to the 3rd edition of The Flyers Junior Hockey Prospect Report for 2024-2025!
This edition for the 2024-2025 season covers the period that was in the WHL, QMJHL, and OHL from Monday November 3rd – Monday November 18th.

- (Nov. 8) The Brandon Wheat Kings played their first road game in nearly a month as they traveled to face the Regina Pats with Carson Bjarnason on the bench in favor of Ethan Eskit. Brandon would take the 1-0 lead as Joby Baumuller scored his 3rd of the season at 11:57, but the Pats would score with one minute remaining in the period on the powerplay to tie the game 1-1. In the second period, the Wheat Kings doubled up the shots on the Pats (20-10 in the period) and got goals from Caleb Hadland (his 4th at 12:44) and Carter Klippenstein (his 2nd at 13:45) to take a 3-1 lead. Regina would cut the lead to one in the third period, but a pair of empty net goals by Baumuller (his second of the game) and Matteo Michels ensured that the Brandon Wheat Kings were victorious in defeating the Regina Pats 5-2.
- (Nov. 9) Ethan Eskit once again got the start with Carson Bjarnason on the bench as the Brandon Wheat Kings hosted the Prince Albert Raiders. In the opening period, the Wheat Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Marcus Nguyen (his 9th at 4:24) and Caleb Hadland (his 5th at 17:50). Dominik Petr would make it 3-0 with a powerplay goal for his 3rd of the season at 12:18 of the second period. In the third period, the Raiders would outshoot the Wheat Kings 15-3 and comeback to tie the game 3-3 by the midway point of the period. Petr would tally his second of the game to give Brandon a 4-3 lead, but Prince Albert would once again tie the game 4-4 and force overtime. In overtime, the Raiders would pick up the win and complete their comeback as Justice Christensen scored his 3rd of the season to give the Raiders a 5-4 overtime win.
- (Nov. 11) On Remembrance Day, the Brandon What Kings hosted the Lethbridge Hurricanes with Carson Bjarnason getting the start in goal. In the opening frame, it was the visiting Hurricanes that found themselves up 1-0 with Brandon outshooting Lethbridge 11-10. In the second period, the Hurricanes would score the only goal of the period once again as they took a 2-0 lead after forty minutes. Lethbridge would add an empty net goal in the closing stages of the game and goaltender Koen Cleaver would stop all 35 shots he faced as the Hurricanes shutout the Wheat Kings 3-0. Bjarnason played well in the loss and allowed 2 goals on 32 shots including the beautiful stop shown below. Bjarnason was named the Second Star of the game.

- (Nov. 15) The Brandon Wheat Kings welcomed the Regina Pats to Westoba Place for their first of back-to-back meetings over the weekend. Carson Bjarnason got the star in goal in this game. In the opening period, both sides would trade goals to end the period 2-2 with Brandon’s goals coming courtesy of Dominik Petr (his 5th at 4:40) and Nicholas Johnson (his 4th at 18:32). In the second period, Marcus Nguyen would hit double-digits as he scored his 10th of the season on the powerplay at 6:24 to give Brandon a 3-2 lead. In the third period, the Pats would tie the game late at 16:34 and would only let the Wheat Kings get one point in the contest as Regina would take the game in overtime 4-3. Bjarnason took the overtime loss and allowed 3 goals on 31 shots (27 saves).
- (Nov. 16) For the second half of their back-to back weekend set hosting the Regina Pats, Ethan Eskit would get the start in goal with Carson Bjarnason as the backup on Paw Patrol Night at Westoba Place. In the opening period, Brandon would find themselves down 2-1 with their goal coming from Matteo Michels’ 5th of the season at 11:30. In the second period it was the Wheat Kings turn to outscore the Pats 2-1 as goals from Rhett Ravndahl (his 1st at 2:06) and Marcus Nguyen (his 11th at 8:21) squared things up at 3-3 after forty minutes. The third period would not find a winner and in overtime it was the suddenly hot Dominik Petr who scored in his 3rd consecutive game (6th of the season) and his powerplay goal gave Brandon a 4-3 overtime win.

- (Nov. 9) The Portland Winterhawks were back in action as they visited the Wenatchee Wild. The Winterhawks would take a 1-0 lead with the man-advantage as Josh Zakreski scored his 7th of the season at 10:19. In the second period, Tyson Jugnauth would go end-to end to give Portland a 2-0 lead with his 5th of the season only 54 seconds in. Kyle Chyzowski (his 11th at 11:44) and Kyle McDonough (his 3rd at 14:34) would extend the lead to 4-0 but the Winterhawks would concede twice before the end of the frame to make it 4-2. In the third period, Chyzowski would score his second of the game on a shorthanded breakaway and Diego Buttazzoni would score his 6th into an empty net as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Wenatchee Wild 6-3. Carter Sotheran finished the game with no points, a +1 rating, 2 SOG, and 4 PIMs (two minor penalties).
- (Nov. 13) In a midweek clash, the Portland Winterhawks hosted the Calgary Hitmen. There was no scoring in the opening period as the Hitmen were outshot 7-5 by the Winterhawks. In the second period, Calgary would score the only goal to lead 1-0 as the shots opened up to a 14-12 advantage for the Hitmen in the frame. After Calgary took a 2-0 lead in the third period, Diego Buttazzoni scored his 7th of the season at 18:07 to cut the lead to 2-1. But the Hitmen would add an empty net goal to hand the Portland Winterhawks a 3-1 loss. Carter Sotheran finished the game with no points, an even rating, and 5 SOG.
- (Nov. 15) The Portland Winterhawks hosted the visiting Red Deer Rebels. In the first period, the Rebels struck first but the Winterhawks tied the game 1-1 through Carsyn Dyck’s 3rd of the season at 11:34. In the second period, Red Deer would score the only goal of the frame to take a 2-1 lead despite being outshot 11-8. In the third period, Portland dominated the shots on goal 13-4 but were only rewarded with the tying goal as Kyle Chyzowski scored his 13th of the season at 4:44. The Winterhawks pressed in the remainder of the final stanza but the game remained tied through overtime as the game went to a shootout. In the shootout, Tyson Jugnauth and Diego Buttazzoni converted for the Winterhawks as Portland secured a 3-2 shootout victory over the Red Deer Rebels. Carter Sotheran finished the game with no points, an even rating, and 1 SOG.
- (Nov. 16) The Portland Winterhawks played the second half of a back-to-back by travelling north to visit the Vancouver Giants. In the opening period, Portland struck first with a powerplay goal by Kyle Chyzowski (his 14th at 4:00) but found themselves trailing 2-1 after twenty minutes. The deficit became 3-1 only 25 seconds into the second period, but Portland responded on the powerplay yet again as Tyson Yaremko scored his 7th of the season at 3:22. The Giants would strike twice to open up a 5-2 lead, but the Winterhawks would score three goals late in the period through Diego Buttazzoni (his 8th at 16:24), Josh Zakreski (his 8th at 18:32), and Kyle McDonough (his 4th at 18:56) to tie the game 5-5. After a scoreless third period, the game went to overtime where the Portland Winterhawks emerged with the win after Ryder Thompson scored his 2nd of the season for the game winning goal to give Portland a 6-5 overtime win. Carter Sotheran finished the game with 1 assist, a +2 rating, and 3 SOG.

- (Nov. 3) In their second game of a six-game homestand, the Rimouski Oceanic welcomed the visiting Shawinigan Cataractes to the Sun Life Financial Coliseum. Logan Roop would put the Oceanic in the lead with his 1st of the season at 3:17, but the Cataractes would finish the period all even with a tying goal at 10:11 to make it 1-1. In the second period, Mael St. Denis would score his 3rd of the season at 2:19 to give Rimouski a 2-1 lead; but powerplay and even strength goals would propel Shawinigan to a 3-2 advantage after forty minutes. In the third period, Matvei Gridin would add a pair of powerplay goals as Shawinigan would defeat Rimouski by a score of 5-2. Spencer Gill finished the game with 1 assist, a +2 rating, and 2 SOG.
- (Nov. 6) The Rimouski Oceanic continued their homestand as they welcomed the surging Chicoutimi Sagueneens to town. In the opening period, Rimouski would strike first as Quinn Kennedy scored his 5th of the season at 9:04 to give the Oceanic a 1-0 lead. In the second period, Chicoutimi would strike twice in a span of 1:58 to take a 2-1 lead beginning at 3:30. In the third period, the Oceanic outshot the Sagueneens 17-8 and tied the game 2-2 as Alexandre Blais scored his 7th of the season at 2:46. But victory was not in the cards on this night as the Sagueneens scored the go-ahead goal at 4:05 and held on to defeat the Rimouski Oceanic by a score of 3-2. Spencer Gill finished the game with no points, a -1 rating, and 4 SOG.
- (Nov. 8) The Drummondville Voltigeurs were the visitors as they played against the host Rimouski Oceanic on Friday night. In the opening period, Rimouski put the pedal to the metal as they peppered 22 shots on goal to pace themselves to a 4-goal first period. Goals by Jacob Mathieu (his 10th and 11th on the PP at 4:06 and 7:21), Alexandre Blais (his 8th at 11:44), and Anthony Pare (his 2nd on the PP at 19:18) paced the Oceanic to a 4-0 lead. Spencer Gill registered 2 assists in the period with one coming on the powerplay and one coming at even strength. In the second period, Drummondville would strike twice by 2:49 to cut the lead to 4-2, but Quinn Kennedy scored his 6th of the season at 14:30 to make it a 5-2 lead for the Oceanic. In the third period, a powerplay goal by the Voltiguers cut the lead to 5-3 but an empty net goal by Mathieu to complete the hat-trick would ensure a 6-3 Rimouski Oceanic victory over he Drummondville Voltigeurs. Gill finished the game with 2 assists, a +3 rating, and 5 SOG.
- (Nov. 9) The Rimouski Oceanic were back in action once again at home as they welcomed the Saint John Sea Dogs. Saint John would strike quicky at the 44 second mark to take a 1-0 lead which they would keep heading into the intermission even though they only garnered 5 shots on goal. In the second period, the Oceanic would erupt for 22 shots in the frame and would be rewarded with a 2-1 lead through Olivier Theberge’s 6th at 15:04 and Mael St-Denis’ 4th at 16:39. In the third period, Rimouski would score two goals in 41 seconds through Dominic Pilote (his 4th at 4:04) and the red-hot Jacob Mathieu (his 13th at 4:45) to take a 4-1 lead. Saint John would score twice in the middle of the third period to make it a one-goal game, but the Rimouski Oceanic would get the two points as they defeated the Sea Dogs 4-3. Spencer Gill finished the game with no points, an even rating, and 3 SOG.
- (Nov. 13) The homestand for the Rimouski Oceanic ended with a visit from the Quebec Remparts. In the first period, a powerplay goal would give the Remparts a 1-0 lead but Olivier Theberge would tie the game 1-1 with his 7th of the season at 17:06. In the second period, Rimouski would outshoot Quebec 25-9 but would find themselves trailing 2-1 by the midpoint of the frame. Spencer Gill would tie the game 2-2 with his 1st goal of the season to open his account at 10:36. In the third period, Gill would figure in on the scoring once again as he would assist on Lyam Jacques 1st of the season and the game-winner as the Oceanic would defeat the Remparts 3-2. Gill finished the game with 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points, a +1 rating, 2 SOG, and 2 PIMs. Gill was named the First Star of the game.
- (Nov. 15) Looking for their fourth win in a row, the Rimouski Oceanic visited the Quebec Remparts. In the opening period, the Oceanic jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Pavel Simek scored his 5th of the season at 3:33 and Dominic Pilote scored 1:11 later with his 5th of the season. In the second period, Quebec would tie the game 2-2 with a pair of even strength goals; but Simek’s second of the game at 12:59 followed by Vincent Murray’s 1st of the season at 18:25 wour re-establish the 4-2 lead for Rimouski. In the third period, both sides would trade goals with Loic Francoeur nabbing his 2nd of the season at 11:14 to make it a 5-3 game. A late goal by the Remparts would be negated by Mathieu Cataford’s shorthanded empty-netter (his 9th of the season) as the Oceanic defeated the Remparts 6-4. Spencer Gill finished the game with 1 assist, a +1 rating, and 3 SOG.
- (Nov.17) Winners of four straight, the Rimouski Oceanic looked to keep their winning ways alive as they hosted the Victoriaville Tigres. In the opening period, the Oceanic dominated play with a 20-5 shots advantage and were rewarded with a 2-0 lead through goals by Mathieu Cataford (his 10th on the PP at 7:40) and Jacob Mathieu (his 14th at 19:08). In the second period Victoriaville would get on the board just over four minutes in, but Quinn Kennedy would score his 7th of the season at 16:18 to make it 3-1 after forty minutes. In the third period, Jacob Mathieu scored twice to complete his hat-trick and propelled the Rimouski Oceanic to their fifth straight victory as they defeated the Victoriaville Tigres 5-2. Spencer Gill finished the game with no points, a +1 rating, and 3 SOG.

- (Nov. 3) The London Knights visited the Owen Sound Attack to end their weekend on Sunday. The first period was a scoreless but entertaining affair that saw the Knights outshoot the Attack 15-14. In the second period, London would open the scoring as Denver Barkey would win the draw and the point shot by Sam Dickenson would go to Jacob Julien who scored his 3rd of the season at 15:44. In the third period, Owen Sound would tie the game with a powerplay goal of their own to knot the game at 1-1 with 1:10 remaining to force overtime. In overtime, Barkey would break up a play in the defensive zone and feed Eason Cowan for the game-winning goal (his 7th of the season) as the London Knights defeated the Owen Sound Attack 2-1. Barkey finished the game with 2 assists, a +1 rating, 1 SOG, and was 2/5 on faceoffs. Oliver Bonk ended up with no points, an even rating, and 5 SOG.

- (Nov. 6) The London Knights brief road trip ended with a visit to Sault St. Marie to take on the Soo Greyhounds. After the Greyhounds took the lead at 6:07, the Knights would tie the game 1-1 on a powerplay goal by Landon Sim who scored his 5th of the season at 15:25. In the second period, Oliver Bonk would pounce on a rebound to tuck in his 2nd of the season on the powerplay at 4:13 to make it 2-1. Sam Dickenson would make it 3-1 with his 8th goal of the season at 16:34 with a blast from the top of the right circle. In the third period, London would put the finishing touches on what was a dominant performance as Eason Cowan would score twice (his 8th and 9th goals of the season) as the Knights cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Greyhounds while outshooting them 43-13. Bonk finished the game with 1 goal, an even rating, and 7 SOG. Denver Barkey ended up with 2 assists, a +1 rating, and 1 SOG.

- (Nov. 8) Winners of seven straight games, the London Knights returned home as they took on the North Bay Battalion. In the opening period, San Jose Sharks 1st Round pick Sam Dickenson scored his 9th of the season shorthanded to give the Knights a 1-0 lead at 5:09. After Henry Brzustewicz blasted a powerplay goal to double London’s lead, Dickenson would score his second of the game with the man advantage (assisted by both Denver Barkey and Oliver Bonk) to make it 3-0 at 14:26. London continued to do damage with special teams in the second period as Brzustewicz scored his second of the game while shorthanded for his 2nd of the season at 4:01 to make it 4-0. William Nicholl would score his 5th at 9:04 to make it 5-0 before the Battalion would strike twice later in the period to make it 5-2. In the third period, Sam Dickenson would get the hat-trick and ice the game with his 11th of the season as the London Knights would handily defeat the North Bay Battalion 6-2. Bonk finished the game with 2 assists, a +1 rating, and 5 SOG. Barkey ended up with 1 assist, an even rating, 2 SOG, and was 4 of 5 on draws.

- (Nov. 10) Looking for their ninth win in a row, the London Knights visited the Guelph Storm. After conceding two goals in the opening minute, London got on the board though William Nicholl’s 6th of the season at 1:14 and tied the game 2-2 at 6:45 with through the hot hand of Henry Brzustewicz’s 3rd of the season. The Storm would get the advantage midway through the period to head into the intermission up 3-2. In the second period, both sides would get a powerplay goal (Brzustewicz for the Knights) each but London would add goals from Jared Woolley (his 2nd at 7:55) and Noah Read’s 1st of the season at 15:56 to take a 5-4 lead after forty minutes. In the third period, both sides would score three goals apiece (Oliver Bonk would pick up assists on two of the goals) as the London Knights survived a wild game at the Sleeman Centre with an 8-7 victory over the Guelph Storm. Bonk finished with 3 assists, a +3 rating, and 4 SOG. Denver Barkey ended up with no points, a -1 rating, and 3 SOG.
- (Nov. 15) The London Knights welcomed the Sarnia Sting to the Canada Life Place. In the first period, the Sting struck first but the Knights would come back promptly as Easton Cowan bagged his 11th of the season on the powerplay at 4:02 to make it 1-1. In the second period it was more of the same as Sarnia took a 2-1 lead before Cowan potted his second of the game on the powerplay at 16:01 to make it 2-2. Denver Barkey would pick up his 3rd assist of the game as he would send in William Nicholl who scored his 7th of the season while shorthanded at 19:51 to give London a 3-2 lead. In the third period, Jacob Julien scored his 4th of the season at 4:41 to make it 4-2. That looked to be it for the scoring, but both sides would trade goals in the final minute (including Julien’s second of the game) as the Knights outlasted the Sting by a score of 5-3. Oliver Bonk finished the game with no points, a +1 rating, and 4 SOG. Barkey ended the game with 4 assists, a +1 rating, 0 SOG, and was 3 of 5 on draws. Barkey was named the First Star of the game.

- (Nov. 16) The London Knights looked to keep up their recent form as they welcomed back Kaspar Halttunen to their lineup as they visited the Guelph Storm. In the opening period, the Knights scored at even strength to take a 1-0 lead at 5:10 through Easton Cowan’s 13th of the season. Cowan has now scored a point in an unbelievable 51 consecutive games! In the second period, London would double their lead to 2-0 as Noah Read scored his 3rd of the season at 16:06. In the third period, London’s Flyers’ prospects each figured into the scoring as both Denver Barkey (his 2nd at 4:09) and Oliver Bonk (his 3rd on the PP at 16:32) to take a 4-0 lead. The lead would hold up as Austin Elliot stopped all 27 shots he faced as the London Knights shutout the Guelph Storm 4-0. Bonk finished the game with 1 goal, a +1 rating, 6 SOG, and 2 PIMs. Barkey ended the game with 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points, a +2 rating, 2 SOG, and 4 PIMs. Barkey was named the Third Star of the game.

- (Nov. 6) The Guelph Storm visited the Brantford Bulldogs in a midweek clash. Neither side could find the back of the twine in the opening twenty minutes as both sides registered 8 shots on goal. In the second period, Guelph would strike on the powerplay as Daniil Skvortsov would score his 2nd of the season at 2:08 to give the Storm a 1-0 lead. Brantford would tie the game 1-1, but in the third period Jett Luchanko would score a shorthanded breakaway goal for his 1st goal of the season at 8:37 to give Guelph a 2-1 lead. Luchanko would not be done as he would contribute a primary assist on Charlie Paquette’s powerplay goal (his 3rd of the season at 10:15) to give the Storm some breathing room at 3-1. Pacquette would add an empty-netter for his second of the game to ice a solid 4-1 victory for the Guelph Storm over the Brantford Bulldogs. Luchanko had a very nice afternoon as he finished with 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points, a +1 rating, 3 SOG, 2 PIMs, and was 9/21 on faceoffs. Jett Luchanko was named the First Star of the game.

- (Nov. 8) The Guelph Storm returned home to the Sleeman Centre as they welcomed the visiting Erie Otters to town. In the opening period, Erie would strike first at 15:11 but the Storm would tie the game 1-1 with Leo Serlin’s 2nd of the season at 19:32. In the second period, Guelph would erupt for 5 goals on 14 shots to take a commanding 6-1 lead. Parker Snelgrove (his 3rd at 2:05), Carter Stevens (his 3rd at 5:04 on the PP), and Cam Allen (his 3rd at 8:28 on the PP) would set the tone. Jett Luchanko would score his 2nd of the season at 10:47 after his cross-crease feed banked in off the goaltender to make it consecutive games with a goal. Serlin would score his second of the game with just one second remaining to give Guelph the 6-1 advantage. In the third period, Erie would strike twice but Parker Snelgrove’s 4th of the season ensured that the Guelph Storm would win their second straight game with a 7-4 win over the Erie Otters. Luchanko finished the game with 1 goal (GWG), a -1 rating, 3 SOG, and was 12 of 18 on faceoffs.

- (Nov. 10) The Guelph Storm looked to keep their winning ways going as they welcomed the London Knights to town for a Sunday matinee. Jett Luchanko used a deft tip pass to set up Max Namestnikov for his 3rd goal of the season only 37 seconds in to make it 1-0. Luchanko would make it two assists in the opening minute as he set up defenseman Cam Allen for his 4th goal of the season at 0:59 to make it a 2-0 Storm lead. London would charge back to tie the game 2-2, but Luchanko would add his third assist of the period to his tally as Vilmer Alriksson would score his 4th of the season at 13:58 to give Guelph a 3-2 advantage. In the second period, London would score three goals in the period but Namestnikov would get his second of the game on the powerplay at 12:35 to trail London 5-4 after forty minutes. In the third period, Namestnikov would complete his hat-trick and add a fourth goal for his 6th of the season but even a late goal by Parker Snelgrove would not be enough as the Guelph Storm lost a wild 8-7 game to the London Knights. Luchanko finished the game with 4 assists, a +2 rating, 0 SOG, and was 19/25 on faceoffs.

- (Nov. 15) The homestand continues for the Guelph Storm as they hosted the Niagara IceDogs. In the first period, Jett Luchanko fired a shot home from the slot only 47 seconds in for his 3rd of the season to give the Storm a 1-0 lead. In the second period, both sides would explode for a combined six goals with Guelph’s tallies coming by way of Max Namestnikov (his 7th at 8:32), Leo Serlin (his 4th at 10:03), and Cam Allen (his 5th at 10:33) to make it a 4-4 tie after forty minutes. In the third period, Guelph outshot Niagara 18-9 and overcame a shorthanded goal to score for times in the period (including a tap in for Luchanko’s second goal of the game) as the Storm defeated the IceDogs 8-5. Luchanko finished the game with 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points, a +3 rating, 5 SOG, 2 PIMs, and was 8/17 on faceoffs. Jett Luchanko was named the First Star of the game.

- (Nov. 16) The Guelph Storm looked to keep up their recent offensive form as they welcomed the London Knights in for a game. In the opening period, the Knights scored at even strength to take a 1-0 lead at 5:10. In the second period, London would doble their lead to 2-0 even though the Storm peppered 14 shots on the London goal. In the third period, the other Philadelphia Flyers got into the scoring as both Denver Barkey and Oliver Bonk got goals and Austin Elliot stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Guelph Storm got shutout 4-0. Jett Luchanko finished the game with no points, a -1 rating, 3 SOG, and was 7/17 on draws.
