Deal or No Deal: Would You Make This Trade? vol. 33

After Danny Briere actually did his job and dealt away Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost, the fans have gotten quite creative with their dream trade scenarios ahead of the deadline in March. So we found our favorite Flyers-themed fan-proposed trades from PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool for readers to vote on!

You’re the GM of the Philadelphia Flyers and the proposals below come across your desk, do you make the trade?

Within the realm of reality, this is about the most reasonable package the Flyers could put together for Elias Pettersson. One of their *theoretical* top forwards who’s under contract for the foreseeable future, the top center prospect, and a pair of high draft picks.

If the Flyers want a top center, and 26-year-old Pettersson fits the bill, the cost to acquire him isn’t going to be cheap. This is close to the best the Flyers could do, and quite frankly isn’t great compared to what some teams could package together.

25-year-old right-handed defenseman Noah Dobson, who’s a pending RFA this summer, is one of the more intriguing names to emerge on the trade block ahead of the deadline in March. He’s struggled a bit this season with 24 points in 46 games, but Dobson posted 70 points in 79 games last season and has 215 points in 363 career games, 78 of them coming on the powerplay.

They ditch Tippett to cover the cost of Dobson’s extension, and forego the development of Bonk to add one of the better young offensive-defensemen in the league today.

Aaron Ekblad, who just turned 29 in early February, is currently the biggest prize of the defense UFA market ahead of the 2025 offseason.

The Flyers get a slightly younger upgrade on defense, but have to pay up via a new contract to keep Ekblad (which for argument sake we’re assuming is included in this trade), whereas the Panthers get a decent right-handed replacement on a cost-controlled contract for two more years.

Michael Eyssimont is a 28-year-old center who has played 187 NHL games serving in a depth role. Maxim Groshev is a 23-year-old forward who was a third round pick in 2020. He has spent the last two seasons in the AHL. Darren Raddysh is a 28-year-old right-handed defenseman who has 150 NHL games to his name.

Gendron is a forward prospect whose NHL ceiling is cloudy at best right now, and Tyson Foerster hasn’t quite had a smooth transition to the NHL under John Tortorella.

The Bolts get two young forwards who could both very well be decent NHLers one day, but the two first round picks alone are worth more for the rebuilding Flyers.

Trevor Zegras? by HughesGlazer86

It isn’t an installment of Deal or No Deal without at least one truly thought provoking entry.

Yes, that is every draft pick the Flyers own over the next three years in exchange for Trevor Zegras. Technically, this trade was proposed before the Frost/Farabee trade, so maybe the Flyers can keep the 2025 2nd and 2028 7th rounders acquired in that deal.
