As most fanbases prepare to cheer on their team in the playoffs, Flyers fans are dreaming up what kind of moves Danny Briere has up his sleeve this summer. And the expectations on PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool are indicative of the masses wanting a few blockbuster moves. Will it happen in real life? eh… TBD. But we picked our favorite fan-proposed scenarios for our readers to vote on in the meantime!
You’re the GM of the Philadelphia Flyers and the proposals below come across your desk, do you make the trade?
Larkin & Raymond Trades by FinnishyourchecksGM

Larkin will turn 29 this summer. He has six years left on his contract that pays him $8.7 million (and he’s got a full no-trade clause.) He’s reliably good for 30 goals and 70 points a season as Detroit’s top center.
Albert Johansson was a second round pick in 2019. He’s a left-handed defenseman who played 58 NHL games during his rookie campaign in 2024-25.
The Flyers desperately need a top center, and the Red Wings desperately need to shake up the Yzer-plan after another missed postseason.

The idea here is that the Flyers won’t get their top center in the draft with their own pick thanks to their late-season winning, so you deal the 2026 first for one of the premier younger proven centers in the league today. Thus, addressing a need is better than best player available in the draft.
The Canucks get something equivalent to a warm body at center in Sean Couturier, who still has five years left on his contract. They also land left-handed defenseman Cam York, who could be on the outs in Philly after some off-ice issues with the coaching staff.
Pettersson (26) had a down year in Vancouver, posting 15 goals and 45 points in 64 games, but is a three-time 30+ goal scorer and posted 89 points last season and 102 points in 2022-23. He does have seven years left on his deal at a $11.6 million cap hit. Even factoring in ditching Couturier’s contract, that is still the largest risk in this scenario.

A+ PHL offseason by Jb

If the Flyers are getting rid of Cam York, they’re going to need a new top defenseman, so you may as well shoot for the stars and get one of the top guys in the league.
Dahlin, the former first overall pick back in 2018, is now 25 years old and the captain of the Sabres. He posted 68 points in 71 games for Buffalo this season, and has 360 points in 507 career games. He’s currently in the first year of an eight-year contract with a $11 million aav.
The Flyers move on from Owen Tippett before his trade protection kicks in, and send York to Bufflo, which may be a worse fate than he thought playing for Tortorella was. Philly uses some of their abundance of draft picks to snag a much needed bonafide top defenseman.

The Flyers could be having second thoughts about extending Konecny a year early, and they could deal him before his full no-movement clause kicks in this summer. The Kings finally hunt down that top winger the wanted back at the trade deadline. And LA also gets a decent replacement on their blue line (even though York is a lefty and Clarke is a righty), plus two first round picks as ammo to continue to build into a real contender.
Byfield is a 22-year-old center, who posted 53 points in 79 games, his second consecutive 50-point season as his overall game continues to grow.
Brandt Clarke is a 22-year-old right-handed defenseman who just finished his first full NHL season.
This does seem like a bit of an overpay from the Flyers’ side, but acquiring two 22-year-olds with plenty of upside is a steep price in the modern day NHL.

Keeping 1 Player per Position Trading Everyone else by wizardry777

John Gibson is obviously the big fish here for the Flyers, who need a top goalie if they want any hope to compete anytime soon. He’ll turn 32 this summer, and has two years left on his contract at a $6.4 million cap hit.
Pavel Mintyukov is a left-handed defenseman that was selected 10th overall in 2022. He has 129 NHL games to his name so far.
Gudas is about to turn 35 this summer. He played for the Flyers once upon a time. That’s apparently the only thing that matters in this day and age.
Zegras’ stock has fallen from grace over the last few years, though does still provide an interesting option as a rehab project.
The Flyers ditch Owen Tippet’s contract. They ditch Nick Seeler’s contract. They don’t have to make a decision on Drysdale’s contract in 2026 and Ivan Fedotov probably isn’t an NHL-caliber goaltender.
For what it’s worth, there’s a zero percent chance the Ducks would make this trade, although outside of Gibson and the potential of Mintyukov, there’s not an overabundance of sure-fired talent on Anaheim’s end either.
