Other C options by Hammerwise

Byram is a 23-year-old left-handed defenseman who has 246 career NHL games under his belt and won a Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022. He is a pending restricted free agent this summer.

The Flyers ditch $5.5 million of Couturier’s contract for the next four seasons. Adding a young lefty in Byram also gives the team options when it comes to trading Cam York for a potential center replacement.

Demko is a 29-year-old goalie. He struggled this season after returning from an injury he sustained during last year’s playoffs, appearing in just 23 games and posting a 2.90 GAA and .889 SV%. But he was a Vezina finalist in 2023-24 with a 2.45 GAA and .918 SV%, which is overall much closer to his career .910 SV%. He is an unrestricted free agent in 2026.

The Flyers move 25-year-old Sam Ersson, who has struggled to hold down the starting role in Philly, as well as the 6th overall pick as well as the 48th overall pick.

The Flyers desperately need a goalie if they hope to have any success in 2025-26, and hunting down one of the better options in the league won’t be cheap.

Making the team competitive again by swin08

Thanks to some colorful end-of-season press conferences from Canucks president Jim Rutherford, it sure seems like Quinn Hughes could be looking to get out of Vancouver sooner rather than later. Hughes himself said the Rick Tocchet is his favorite coach he played for, and while this may not be the reunion with his bothers he was looking for, they’re just a 90 minute drive up the turnpike.

The 25-year-old Hughes 409 points in 433 career games, with 178 of them coming on the powerplay. He’s got two years left on his contract at a $7.8 million cap hit before he becomes a UFA. He won the Norris Trophy in 2024 and is a finalist in 2025.

PHILTHY by DmasK

This one may be wild at face value, but it kills multiple birds for the Flyers.

They land two young centers with upside in Zegras (24) and McTavish (22) plus snag their top goalie in John Gibson (31). They also land the 10th overall pick in the draft as well as the 60th pick.

The Flyers surrender all three of their 2025 first rounders (6, 22, & 31/32) as well as pick 40 and a fifth rounder just for funzies.
