I have a feeling Canucks fans would burn the city down if this all Vancouver managed to get back from trading Quinn Hughes.

The 25-year-old Norris Trophy winner in 2023-24 is an elite offensive defenseman who’s very familiar with Rick Tocchet and wants to be closer to his brothers in New Jersey.

Garland is a 29-year-old forward who is typically good for 20-goals and 50-points a season.

This trade is thrown in exclusively to see how many Flyers fans will thumbs down a trade acquiring a two-time 40-plus goal scorer in the NHL in favor of keeping a crapshoot sixth overall pick.

The theory on this trade isn’t that bad. The Stars are looking to ditch some cap space, so the Flyers take on the two years at $3.3 million of 31-year-old defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin and the one remaining year of 30-year-old Matt Dumba’s $3.8 million contract.

The trade gets centered around Robertson, whom the Flyers pay a reduced price tag of their own assets because they ate both contracts Dallas was trying to get rid of.

Robertson, 26, has 394 points in 374 NHL games.

The Flyers have been tied to 25-year-old LHD Alexander Romanov over the last week (and should be doing their due diligence with Noah Dobson if they were smart) so what if they just acquired them both?

The Flyers would surrender the sixth overall pick, giving the Islanders both first and sixth overall, and the Isles would get a replacement right away for Romanov in York.

The Flyers do pick up a first rounder next year as well, which could be a decent pick if the Islanders remain on the outside of a playoff picture.

Marner Martone by LatendresseFanClubCEO

Rossi is a 23-year-old former first round pick in 2020 who posted 24 goals and 60 points in 82 games in 2024-24 in what was his breakout season in the NHL.

Jesper Wallstedt is a 22-year-old goaltender and former first round pick in 2021. He has just five games of NHL experience to his name thus far, spending most of the last three seasons in the AHL.

Yakov Trenin is a 28-year-old depth center.

The Flyers would be giving up picks 22, 36 and 68 in 2025.

Kick it up a notch by Briera48

This is a big, probably uneven trade, but essentially the Flyers cut the excess fat on their roster in the name of adding additions in key spots. The Sabres get an influx on new bodies to freshen their roster.

Luukkonen would be a huge improvement over Fedotov.

Byram would replace Cam York.

JJ Paterka would bring more to the lineup than Brink, Tippett and Pelletier combined.
