The Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks ended their season series meetings on October 24th in Chicago. The previous meeting was for the season opener in Prague where the Flyers bested the Blackhawks with a final score of 4-3. The latest meeting of the two teams ended with another Flyer victory and a final score of 4-1. For the majority of the game, the Flyers had control of the pace and flow. Out shooting and out scoring Chicago set the tone for the entire night.
Oskar Lindblom got the Flyers on the board first with a wrist shot that was fed to him by Travis Konecny, beating Robin Lehner. Flyers captain, Claude Giroux got his first goal of the season in the first minute of the 2nd period via a redirection shot from defensemen Travis Sanheim. Brandon Saad of the Blackhawks gave Chicago a morale boost when he scored on Brian Elliot in the 3rd period, making the score 2-1. It was all Chicago for most of the 3rd period as they controlled the puck for the majority of the period. Kevin Hayes remains to be a hot topic for the Flyers as he scored on Robin Lehner to give the Flyers their two goal lead again and give Hayes his third goal of the season. The final goal came from James Van Riemsdyk giving him his first goal of the season and giving Philadelphia a comfortable lead and final score of 4-1.
The Flyers return home to the Wells Fargo Center to face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday at 7pm.
