NHL Trade Rumours: Canucks, Capitals, Ducks, Flyers, Senators, and Stars

Connor Garland has been amidst trade rumours this past week. The 27-year-old Vancouver Canuck has been linked to a handful of teams, but most recently the Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers and Anaheim Ducks have been interested in the right winger.

All teams listed are all willing and able to be third-party conduits, it just comes with a price.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, believes all four teams have been in talks with Canucks GM Patrik Allvin about Conor Garland, with all four acting as a facilitator that would see Garland moved elsewhere. So far, those discussions haven’t led to anything major. However, the Flyers have already been a part of a three-way trade this off-season. Mason Marchment and/or Radek Faksa are both on the Dallas Stars trading block, speculating a three-way deal.

On Saturday, Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman reported the Canucks had granted Connor Garland permission to speak with other clubs. He also noted the Capitals have been looking around for a trade partner to take winger Anthony Mantha off their hands, adding another team into the mix.

It is unknown what general manager Danny Briere’s asking price is, likely to be fairly high. Reiterating the associated cost needed to move out money. The Flyers have also been linked to Ottawa Senators forwards, Shane Pinto and Mathieu Joseph. Those rumours have died down in the past few weeks. Morgan Frost was rumoured to be a trade piece to acquire one of the two, and with Frost not playing recently, those rumours could easily pick back up.

The Flyers reportedly shopped Morgan Frost during the off-season, per The Fourth Period. The Montreal Canadiens along with the Ottawa Senators were two clubs interested. With that, TFP noted that some teams have expressed interest in Frost recently, who has not played in four straight games.

Connor Garland has played six games this season, four more than Morgan Frost. Matthieu Joseph, has been on a point per game pace since the trade rumours sparked.

In those 6 games, Garland has 2 points with 1 power play tally. Morgan Frost has only played in two games and held pointless with a negative plus minus. Mathieu Joseph on the other hand, has 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists) in as many games. As for the other Senator, Pinto has been registered unable to play without a new contract.

Elliotte Friedman reported on Tuesday, the Senators recently offered the 22-year-old a one-year, $1M deal just to get him signed and worry about a long-term deal next season.

Trade talks and contract negotiations will continue over the next couple weeks between teams. Keep an eye on the Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks.
