You’re the GM of the Philadelphia Flyers and the proposals below come across your desk, do you make the trade?

The Blackhawks’ 2026 first round pick is currently fourth overall after the draft lottery. The Flyers’ pick is 21st overall after their playoff run.

Chicago gets a main roster winger to bring some legitimacy to their forward group, and two picks as more cannon fodder for other deals, presuming they would take quantity over quality at this point in their rebuild.

The Flyers get a shot at a top five pick which will probably be more useful than either of their 2026 or 2027 firsts will be, plus they clear a winger spot which gives their roster flexibility for other offseason moves.

In terms of top six center help, Thomas may be the best it gets during the very shallow 2026 offseason.

The Blues get a replacement center in Cates, a younger forward with upside in Foerster, and two first round picks to aid in their rebuilding effort. Meanwhile the Flyers get a top six center that has hit 80 points in two of his last three seasons, and at 27 fits in with the age of the core they’re building around.

The trade rumors around Auston Matthews have started to boil up, and if he’s seriously about to be on the move, he needs to be on the Flyers’ radar.

In terms of returns, this is probably one of the more realistic packages the Flyers could put together without including one of Matvei Michkov or Porter Martone. Is it enough for the Leafs to move Matthews?

This feels like a deal where the Red Wings would laugh in the face of Danny Briere, but it’s not the worst basis for a trade in the world. The Red Wings have an excess of goalie prospects, and the Flyers have an excess of main roster wingers. There’s surely a deal to be had there somewhere.

The problem is, Gill and Ersson are essentially worthless in this scenario, making the deal Tippett for Bear (the 13th overall pick in 2025), Augustine and two top picks. That’s… just a bit lopsided.

Double barrel centres by Trevors flyers

The Flyers give up four mid-tier prospects as well as a pair of first round picks for 23-year-old center Matty Beniers. While his offense leaves something to be desired, he has hit 50 points twice and is a three-time 20-goal scorer, plus has a solid two-way game which could excel in the Flyers’ scheme.

Not entirely sure why the Jets would call up the Flyers and propose a trade centered around two middle-six forwards who are closing on in 30 years old and a random 21s overall pick for one of the better goalies in the game today, but hey, we’re not here to ask questions.

Worth noting, this deal comes from a Jets fan.
