The Flyers drafted Scott Laughton 20th overall in 2012, and after years of marinating in the AHL with limited NHL ice time, he became a full-time roster member in 2017-18 and has been a highly respected depth forward ever since. His 30th birthday comes around in May of 2024 and he's got an additional two … Continue reading Keep or Trade: Scott Laughton

Metro Gauntlet’s over! Playoffs? Maybe?
From November 19th to December 4th the Flyers embarked on an 8 game gauntlet within the Metropolitan division. Regardless of where the Flyers might finish the season, any hopeful playoff team knows how crucial an inter division run like this is. One way to view these games is to realize more than 2 points are … Continue reading Metro Gauntlet’s over! Playoffs? Maybe?
Comparing the 2023-24 Flyers to the 2017-18 Flyers
May 7, 2024 will be the 10th anniversary of the Flyers naming Ron Hextall as their general manager. He was tasked with rebuilding the team after the Paul Holmgren era went off the tracks. His attempted rebuild went wrong from just about every possible angle, and now, 10 years later, there is a new rebuilding … Continue reading Comparing the 2023-24 Flyers to the 2017-18 Flyers
Matvei Michkov’s KHL Games- November, 2023
Starting this month I’m going to be more concise with my analyses because a lot of times just watching one player, you’re not getting much action and it’s pretty tiring and repetitive to mention how great Michkov’s hockey IQ is. November 2 vs Amur Khabarovsk Michkov nearly had a hat trick this game. He nearly … Continue reading Matvei Michkov’s KHL Games- November, 2023
Samuel Ersson Finding His Confidence Again, Possessing “The Right Type of Arrogance”
Sam Ersson's lacklustre performance in goal is not (fully) his fault, even though he does not look good on paper. Granted, he had not played in nearly twenty days prior to his season debut in Texas. Going long stints of not getting games in, with Carter Hart taking over priority. However, John Tortorella has confidence in Ersson, ie: starting on Saturday against Pittsburgh, in a non-back-to-back situation. His play has distractedly improved but at the beginning of the season, things were scarce.
Keep or Trade: Sean Walker
29-year-old right-handed defenseman Sean Walker, who the Flyers acquired over the offseason as part of the three-team Ivan Provorov trade, has been a surprising positive during the start of the season. He's a pending unrestricted free agent, and with the Flyers in a supposed rebuild, he could be a hot commodity at the trade deadline. … Continue reading Keep or Trade: Sean Walker

Toronto Maple Leafs Plagued With Injuries, Sean Walker Peaking Interest?
Maple Leafs’ GM Brad Treliving may have to call Flyers’ GM Danny Briere because after 2024 the defensive core of the Leafs will be shot. Six of Toronto’s eight defensemen will be unrestricted free agents with one restricted free agent. That may seem far away but in the present day, the Leafs’ blueline has been flagged with injuries. Sean Walker and Rasmus Ristolainen may be two great additions to an original six club in a blockbuster trade even before the NHL Trade Deadline.
